Ahead of the Curve

Pathways in Technology offers career pathways in business management, computer technology, construction, cyber security, education, healthcare, hospitality, radio/television/film, or real estate right out of high school. Earn a two-year Associate of Applied Science degree along with your high school diploma at no cost to you. You will be mentored from start to finish, have real-life work experiences, and be first in line for job opportunities upon program completion.

Akins is unique in AISD by having two distinct P-Tech programs at Akins: Real Estate and Tomorrow’s Teachers. Austin Board of Realtors is the partner for Akin’s P-Tech Realty program. In this partnership, ABOR realtors help develop coursework, speak to classes, design site visits for students, mentor, and help students with internships. Students in the pathway will complete the P-Tech program and graduate with an AAS in Real Estate from ACC.

Crockett’s P-TECH focuses on Construction Management, giving students exposure to careers in Construction, Engineering and Architecture. Students learn in a hands-on environment in Crockett’s state of the art, 9,200 sq. foot lab. Students complete the program ready to enter lucrative construction careers throughout Central Texas. LBJ partners with Texas institutions of higher education and regional businesses and industry, giving students access to post- secondary education and workforce training opportunities. The LBJ Early College Career Launch Health Sciences program is designed for students interested in a career in the healthcare industry. Our program provides students the opportunity to receive hands-on experience in the healthcare through partnerships with Austin Community College and the Seton Healthcare Family.

IBM is the partner for Navarro’s P-TECH program. In this relationship, IBM gives students real world experience in IBM by providing IBM employees speaking to students, having students visit the IBM campus, provide mentoring, and help students with internships. Students have up to six years to complete the P-TECH program and graduate with an associate of applied science degree in either user experience design or computer programming from ACC.

The P-TECH program at Northeast ECHS is designed to provide students with free college classes at Austin Community College (ACC) and the opportunity to earn an Associate Degree in Applied Science with a specialization in Cybersecurity. With Dell Technologies as the partner, students will have access to Dell employees for mentoring, be able to go on site visits, and if they qualify participate in internships with Dell. While completing classes, students will also be able to obtain industry certifications that will allow them to work immediately after high school.

The Austin Lodging Association and Visit Austin are the partners for Travis’s P-TECH program. In this relationship, industry partners give students real world experience in Hospitality Management field by providing professionals in management roles speaking to students, having students visit different sites to see the variety of options in the field, provide mentoring, and provide internships. Students have up to six years to complete the P-TECH program and graduate with an associate of applied science degree in the Hospitality field from ACC.
